At Return to Intimacy (R2I), our intake process goes far deeper than a single screening tool. We use a multi-instrument assessment battery — validated, research-backed, and clinically refined — to build a complete picture of the person sitting across from us, not just the behavior that brought them in.

What we measure:

Our screening battery spans more than a dozen standardized instruments, examining sexual compulsion severity, childhood trauma history, ADHD symptom profiles, depression, anxiety, PTSD, dissociation, emotional regulation, attachment patterns, shame, and personality dimensions — all alongside self-reported recovery readiness, learning style, and relational needs.

Why it matters:

Sexual compulsion rarely travels alone. Our data consistently reveals patterns that a surface-level intake will miss — trauma histories that predate and drive compulsive behavior, cross-addiction substitution, co-occurring ADHD, insecure attachment patterns, and significant gaps between how clients perceive their situation and what the objective data shows. We're not just screening for addiction severity. We're screening for everything that feeds it.

At R2I, our interpretive sessions are designed to weave findings into an organic, rapport-first conversation — so that clients encounter insight rather than judgment. Our clinicians are trained to identify minimization and under-reporting patterns, cross-reference instruments for internal contradictions, and translate complex clinical findings into language clients can actually use.
